16/17th February 2019. This place has been on my radar for a while.
We finally had a chance to get there, and it didn't disappoint.
After packing the van up on Saturday morning we headed off for the journey. 2 hours later after travelling through some windy lanes into the middle of nowhere we were greeted by some amazing views.
We got ourselves kitted up for a 12 mile hike I had planned around the reservoir, we headed off, the weather wasn't great but the location more than made up for it. Half way, we sort of lost the path and with the bad weather closing in and knowing it was going to take us a good few hours to get back, we decided to retrace our steps back to the van.
By the time we got back to the van, the wind had picked up and the rain was getting heavier, so luckily, this place has a large parking area, we managed to park by the side of the toilet block (did I mention there is the added bonus of clean toilets which are open 24hrs) to shelter from the wind.
We hit the night heater on, settled down, had some food and watched a film.
Was a perfect weekend away, cannot recommend this place enough, and we will definitely be heading back there when the weather is good.

Now it's time to start planning our next destination.
